<VV> required prep before chroming

Hi Guys,

I have several parts that have minor pitting and I want to have them
re-chromed. I have no experience in this. What prep work is required before
I send the parts to the chromer? I want to save as money much as possible by
doing my own prep work. Do I need to make the parts perfectly smooth or will
the chrome fill in small pits? What is the best tool to use? Should I use my
rotary tool with a sanding drum? Do I smooth off the edges of the places
where the old chrome has flaked off? Should I start with a good sand blast?
Do I need to remove all the old chrome? Should the part be prepped as if I
was going to paint it (no filler of course)? Are there any good books on the
subject?

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

teasing, just wanted to "stir the pot")
