Stephan: I posted the info mostly for those of us who collect Corvairs in
Print, and just for the general amusement and/or wonderment of VV readers.

I don't seriously disagree with your assessment. Beautifully done car, but
why? My son-in-law's answer is "Because he could!" Which isn't a bad
answer when you think about it.

I wonder what the car's title says. Is it a modified and re-engined Corvair
or a rebodied and re-engined Monte Carlo?

I believe there are two post-WWII cars which qualify as ultimate toy cars.
And one of the two originated pre-WWII. They are the VW Beetle and the
Corvair. Are there any other cars which have had a greater variety of
things done to them than those two makes?

I cannot think of any. Anybody have any other nominations? Before you
reply, make a list of all the sometimes wonderfully weird things people with
excessive creative energy and more dollars than sense have done, and
continue to do, with these two cars. This car in PHR and the man who
stuffed a Jaguar V-12 and a ex-GM (via Mickey Thompson) Pontiac Tempest
4-speed automatic transaxle into a 'Vair are among the strangest street cars
I know about. And the guy who put a supercharged V-8 something in the
middle of a Rampside. Race cars are another story!

Historically Yours,
			James Rice

PS: I believe "methinks" is one word. It and "Godspeed" are two of my
favorite archaic words. But I digress.

<snip> the other is 7 pages of a Corvair w/Monto Carlo frame and a 455 Buick
in the front.

Me thinks that this type of conglomeration is best described as a Corvair
bodied "funny car"; certainly not a Corvair.

To think, all this effort and expense to have their Corvair go fast in a
straight line like the other "muscle cars" and destroying the great
engineering that make the Corvair such a blast to DRIVE/autocross.
