Jim,

What a thoughtful and interesting note you posted - thank you. As an
aside, some of us who "just drive old cars" are still enthusiasts and
members of CORSA. What makes it possible for me to afford old cars at
all is the fact that I will drive them and use them as often as possible.

You are quite right. Anyone who can afford to register and run an
automobile can find $3.00 a month to support CORSA. I can and at my
income level, a year's membership still gives me pause.

What I am assuming is that CORSA helps promote the Corvair as an
automotive icon, a public recognition that the US auto industry does
have to be behind the eight-ball all the time. Without CORSA, there will
be enthusiasts owning Corvairs ranging from daily drivers to trailer
queens, but they will be preaching to the choir only.

CORSA puts a lot of stock and effort into the annual national
convention; perhaps it might re-think whether regional meetings, backed
by national publicity and prominence, might do more for strengthening
the public awareness of the Corvair.

2010 is different matter because it's the 50th but national conventions
might have the cachet they once did - a lot of large events have gone by
the boards because of changing demographics, higher costs and personal
work schedules.

Thanks, Jim.
