<VV> Tips on LM fuel tank install

Thanks for all your suggestions. A prior repair was made on this car, someone used a typical radiator hose to connect the filler tube and tank. It is some pretty tough stuff. However, when I made my order to Clark's, I got a more flexible piece  so I have that working for me. I also replaced the brake lines as was suggested in prior postings, and, yes, even the anti-squeak stuff. I was trying to figure out how to attach the anti squeak because the stuff that Clark's sells didn't have a sticky side to it or it wore off due to shelf life. So clever me had a leftover tube of asphalt cement and I smeared that on the sheetmetal and pushed the anti squeak back on that way.
Now clever me needs to try another approach with this filler tube fitting issue.
OK back to the garage for some more huffing and puffing.
I'll let you know what happens...

I've pulled originals..with hoses still good that Fell out.....and was 
able to twist / bend the rubber to have it slip in...

If you have your car on an overhead lift then I would think you could 
put
the tank in with the filler neck attached (as, I think, GM did).
