<VV> Interesting problem with alternator

So i've had this 66 monza for awhile now ( 4.5 years or so) with the intention to restore it, the last time i worked on it (about 8-9 months ago) i got it running and the alternator wasnt charging, (when checked with a test light) which i thought was odd, since i had it rebuilt about 3 years prior to that when i originally got the engine, and had never even used it.. so i take it to the alternator shop and they test it and say it's working fine, so i go put it back in and same problem.. I did replace the engine wiring harness, could i have it wired backwards? could it be that the alternator is charging and the regulator is bad? any help would be great, thanks!
