i have experienced the 140 stick engine with a powerglide attached and it
was not happy at all. in fact any engine with the 9891 cam and a powerglide
suffers from a lack of low end poop that is very annoying and worse in an FC.
when corrected the difference is amazing. that's my take from making that
mistake more than once. in fact if you want a nice performer with a 4 spd try
a 9889 cam engine..95hp etc. it is a nicer driving combination.
so powerglides really do need the "low performance" cam. if you carefully
study the tource and horsepower curves on all those engines , paying attention
to the RPM that the tourqe is max you should be able to see most of what i
speak in print.
