<VV> "Drive Your Corvair Day"?

I think we're all free to drive our Corvairs any day we so choose, however,  
I thought it was the '60 model year intro. day in 1959, Oct. 2nd, that folks 
had  previously designated as "Drive Your Corvair Day" and not today, the 
anniversary  in '69 of the building of the last Corvair.  Do I recall incorrectly?  
 
BTW, I took today off.  I drove my '63 coupe to an independent  mechanic who 
operates out of an old Chevy dealership.  They mounted my new  tires and I 
plan on spending the balance of the day detailing the car.
