Folks, keep in mind that today, May 14th, was the day
the last 69 Corvair rolled off the Willow Run assembly
line, an Olympic Gold Monza hardtop with black
interior, PG, and a 95 hp engine.

The press was invited to film this historic event as
#6000 was given its final fittings and rolled out of
the last assembly bay, only to apparently meet its sad
fate with the crusher shortly thereafter.

#5999 had a 140 engine which had its distributor on
180 degress backwards, resulting in a
no-start/backfiring condition which took the mechanics
a few minutes to pinpoint and repair. This car
fortunately still exists as everyone knows and is
owned by the CPF.

At the time, people were saying that the Corvair wsa
protesting its decreed fate by GM management...Bill
