I'm with you, and we are in the wet east. No problems with DOT 5 in 28 
years in many cars, some owned and lots as customers.  Some daily 
drivers, some occasional drivers, some sit for years.


I do agree that flushing the fluid every few years has got to be a good 
idea. More often with DOT 3, but still at some interval with DOT 5 just 
to remove contamination  that may crep in. In my own personal cars that 
would have been not very often, so do what I say, not what I do!
