Ah, yes. Despite being an "economy car", the Corvair was never designed to  
hit the magical 14.6 A/F ratio. It was always designed to run richer. Probably  
due to some fear of that old "debble" detonation and pre ignition. If in 
doubt  about this, see the GM engine test reports Clark's sells.
