As evidenced by the wholesale change to a foot-type application on newer  
cars, it is no longer an emergency brake, it is a parking brake. In theory, you  
should take the harness off at approximately the same time you would be 
exiting  the car - and setting the brake. Unless you were just "Parking" for a 
while. . .  . and you would still probably want to remove the seat belt harness -
