<VV> Early spyder VIN

The separate model was done only in 1964.

We're in luck that Fisher Body had to do something to the body for the turbo
option before handing the body to Chevy--namely, the exhaust cutout. Look
for letter C in group 3 (WR or VN plants) on the last line of the Fisher tag
or X (OA plant) in '63. In '62, look for D (WR & VN, no group numbers that
year) or X (OA plant).

No Spyders in '61. In '64, no need for a code since they knew to make the
cutout based on the model designation.

Subject: <VV> Early spyder VIN

Do the VIN numbers on the 61-63 Corvairs reflect the Spyder option ("06",
the 2nd and 3rd numbers in the VIN)? or are they just tagged
"09" as a 900 coupe? If they are tagged "09" how does one tell if a car
really had the Spyder option when the engine has been replaced with say
a 110?

Thanks, Kelly
