Hi Lon,

I would make that minimum age 50 - I know a lot of parents who are
within a couple years of my age (I'm 46 and my assistant coaches this
spring were both older than me), and my youngest son won't graduate
high school until I'm 55. People often seem to think of "parents" as
"parents of toddlers or babies". You can't legally go on vacation
and leave your kids behind until they're 18, and if they weren't born
until you're over 25 (very common today), that means you're over 40
when they're teenagers. BTW, that's another reason why you don't see
as many kids at a convention as are out there. Our kids come with us
to conventions, but now they get their own room keys and come and go
as they please, more or less. Just because there aren't a bunch of
20 or 30 somethings pushing strollers doesn't mean there aren't
parents or their kids around.

That all said, I can see a number of upsides to a non-summer
convention. Question is, who will host it? If a group of folks
really feels this strongly about it, get your club to submit a
convention bid.
