The vendors sell a foam sleeve that fits over the heater hose to keep  
it from contacting the starter terminal.  Not sure what years they're  
for, but it should fit fine on any Corvair.  Another non-stock fix  
would be an insulator cap on that terminal, like the one on  
alternator + posts.
