<VV> a new brake question

Brad --

You don't tell us what sort of calipers were used. (The residual valve
is to keep drum brake seals slightly pressurized so they don't leak and
has little to do with braking performance.) In the early eighties, GM
did produce some "low drag" disc brakes that did back the calipers off
more -- this design brake requires a compatable "low drag" master cylinder.

A larger bore master cylinder will push more fluid more quickly, but
will also require greater pedal effort, and on disc brakes that are
generally designed to be used with a booster, greater pedal effort is
not what you want.
