i learned a lot on this one. after @2000 miles of severe oil burning ( @1 qt
in a hundred miles) , i took it apart and found lots of oil showing on all 6
cylinders. rings were in positions so i blame it on the bore / hone job i got
locally to save costs. it ran very good , but ate oil like gas. everything
else looked ok. one head gasket showed leakage , probably due to hydraulicing
with all the oil in the cylinder. i know agree with the statements in the
books...use only corvair shops for corvair work! save the grief and cash.
never again! what a mess!!
i am now building a complete new engine from scratch. i missed a LOT of
corvair fun the last 2 years because of that mistake also.
regards, back to work , tim colson
