These are probably the VW Beetle style boots for you newbies that don't
recognize them -- on a bug motor they fit over the ceramic "plug adapter
/ resister" which holds them in place better than a standard spark plug boot

Original VW are solid wire cored and the "plug boot" is this ceramic
insulator resistor device -- looks like the picture, but many'
replacements use resistance wire and standard silicone boots, but we are
talking about the flat rubber disc that doesn't seal the boot hole very
well, even in VW applications. [picture is an example for reference,
not a recomendation, although those pictured are probably 'correct' for VW].

These are VW parts, not for use on your Covair -- get real Corvair style
boots (the seal is integral with a conventional boot), which 'snap' in,
either straight or 90º, as you desire -- the two different types do have
specific applications. Your favorite vendor will know, your FLAPS will
probably sell you six VW style.
