Here's a reply I received from Warren a few years ago:

    The air sensor is a furnace air flow device.
    I have adapted it to the Corvair via a hollow bolt that holds down
    the crossover tube between the carbs.
    Light and wiring instruction are included.
    Light is on at slow idle and goes out at speed.
    out again if no air flow is sensed.

It sounds like a good "track" solution, which would work on the street. 
Having the light coming on and off would be a bother on a street car. 
I've seen micro switches used on installations that used a spring loaded 
idler.
