<VV> Seats - Autocross Classification

Perhaps because Bryan and I have both autocrossed in Greenbriers, it is
why both he and I see an aftermarket seat, legal in stock classes under
the rules, as affording a potential performance benefit. Both he and I
have undertaken the task of trying to stay in place behind the wheel on
a stock FC bench seat. Think a seat belt is sufficient? Not hardly.

I am by no means suggesting that a rules revision is necessary. But
almost any aftermarket seat, when installed in an FC in place of the
stock bench (or, as they say in the south, bay-inch) could truly help
the driver stay in place.

Two slightly related stories:

I once raced a roundy-round stock car in a pure stock class. The car
that I borrowed for this one-time exercise was a retired NYC taxicab,
with the original maroon vinyl bench seat. Despite the presence of
racing belts, on each straightaway I had to haul myself back over to the
left, behind the wheel.

I was once working on my Greenbrier, trying to trace down a
rough-running condition. Each little diagnostic/repair step was
followed by a down-the-block test drive. On one of those test drives I
neglected to fasten the seat belt. At my turnaround point, I initiated
my U-turn and in a blink I was seated behind the glove box! An exciting
few seconds followed.
