It has recently come to light that the founders and manangers of snopes.com are huge financial contributors to the Obama Campaign, as well as other left- of center organizations such as the ACLU, People for the American Way, and others. 

They can no longer be trusted to be a reliable source of verification. There are verified instances where their political ideology influences how they record items on their web site. 

 There are other sites on the Web that advertise being non political partisan and non-sectarian in the way they do their work.
