I agree that new ideas are needed from members for CORSA conventions. Declining attendance cannot be solely blamed on the economy.
CORSA convention planning and management needs much more attention by officers and directors.
Policies and procedures have not been followed in recent years and decisions have been made by well meaning persons without specific CORSA board oversight or approval.
No CORSA convention committee exists, or is a coordinator listed in Communique.
Host chapters do have convention committees, and for 2010 Bob Dunahugh and Jamie Reinhart volunteered to head the Iowa chapter team.
Cedar Rapids was approved by the CORSA board for 2010, and specific details may be formally presented soon for approval. Denver was give conditional approval for 2011.
As a director, I have requested that president Tim Mahler appoint a convention committee chaired by the vice-president with at least one other director from each division hosting a scheduled convention, and with other members or advisors from the general membership as necessary, with all the appointments subject to board approval by formal vote.
No action has yet been taken on this suggestion.
With a convention committee that represents the general membership, and with better reporting and board oversight of the host chapter committee, past mistakes can be avoided and new ideas can be implemented to better serve CORSA and expand participation.
I encourage and welcome your comments and suggestions, including different opinions, and suggest they be sent directly to corsabod at corvair.org
