<VV> Who will do it, now: pdf Communique database

I’m a little confused – or maybe not. This thread seems to be covering
scanning of prior Communiqués and Quarterlies for content and then
publishing them on the web. There are three kinds of stories in the
Communique; show reports, historical/personal stories, and technical
articles. There’s no real value to the show reports but the historical
stories and tech articles are rather timeless. If it’s tech articles you
are interested, the last 30 years of tech articles is already done ! They
were recently scanned to pdf and vibrantly reformatted. Like the old
version, the new one is called the CORSA Tech Guide and being pdf, it’s 100%
searchable – a huge leap forward. The first 20 years, volumes 1&2 was just
released in printed and digital form and several of us are in the process of
editing volume 3, which brings us up to date. So
the tech side is done.
What’s left to do is the historical/personal stories side of the coin. IMHO,
those stores are equally valuable and I’d love to see them archived
electronically as the tech articles have been. The catch is the question of
“free” or “pay”. The tech guide has sold well and has helped with keeping
dues down. Should the historical side be packaged and sold as well or are
we/you thinking of providing all or some of it free on the web?
