Actually 2 stories:

(1) I had a red Greenbriar automatic in Orlando, Fl. Right in town one
day, I rounded a turn and the thing went into neutral. No Go. !!!!!!!!
This was the second time this happened with that ride. Never found out if it
was the diff or trans. I got out of it & walked to a pay ph. and called a
Corvair buddy and offered it to him for $50. I either hitch-hiked or
called someone to pick me up and never saw it again. I think I felt good that
day about showing it that I wasn't going to take it anymore.

(2) In 1972, I had a white '61 500 - or was it a 700? 4 dr. T-boned it
into about a '62 big Plymouth because the woman ran a stale left turn arrow
in front of me. No seatbelt, and my face & body ate the steering wheel
and right knee ate the heater controls. Messed me up to this day with
deviated septum and massive sinus malfunctions. As I remember, the Corvair
crushed linearly across it's front and shortened the car maybe 15 inches. I
only saw it once more in the wrecking yard when I went to get my stuff out of
it.

More:
As some of you know, I had a Roofing Contracting business in Orlando for
many yrs. I had a yellow '65 Monza 4 dr. when I first started my business
(couldn't yet afford any trucks) that I had no choice but to load down with
all my re-roofing tools. Ladder strapped to roof, 5 gal. tar buckets in
back seat, spades/shovels etc. in front seat. Since the car had a black
interior, the many tar marks all over it were actually not out of place. Can't
remember it's ultimate fate, but I doubt anyone was able to clean it up.
