Subject: <VV> ring job - looking for running engine

Hi,

I have a '67 4-speed Monza that I bought off ebay a couple weeks ago.

The engine says it was a rebuilt done by a Texas Corvair Club tech
session but now I have my doubts. After about 450 miles the oil pump
failed. I had that rebuilt and the oil pressure is good, but the
amount of smoke it pumps out makes the car undriveable. I'm not in
the position right now for a project car (have an NSU Sport Prinz and
there's a couple motorcycle projects in the way). The mechanic said
$2,500 for a ring job which is too much for me right now.

Any chance someone has a running engine for sale? I'm in Sacramento,
California. I'm looking for work right now but I could get a rental
and drive out to pick up an engine.

-Dave
