People that say things like this have never attempted to precision machine
ANY hunk of AISI 4140 alloy steel (the stuff those gears are made of), let
alone something like a reversed ring & pinion set!  Then there's the
heat-treat issue.....and man, you have one hell of a "complete machine shop"
if you can handle that too!

Oh....and to answer the next inevitable question.....you COULD get someone
like Webster Gear to make you a gear set....I had them do it for our
race-car transmissions 20 years ago.....$10,000 a set, minimum order of 3
sets!
