Oh my oh my.

Since I'm looking for a buyer for my business this year I'm a little
more willing to be blunt.

What is Corsa? Is it a consumer product or a volunteer service
organization?

Some here who have had the nastiest words reduce it down to a consumer
product. "It's not worth it to me" so who cares if it fails? If Corsa is
not worth it to you then move on. That's your right in a free society.
But quit wasting our time, and quit trying to whine your way into
changing our organization just so you'll stay - maybe.

There will always be an element in society that likes to do things for
people. There will always be people who can have their good nature taken
advantage of. There are people who can usually be relied upon to meet
you MORE than halfway. And there are people in society who know all of
this and will take advantage of the situation.

Is Corsa a consumer product? What if one of my customers suggested to me
that the price on our cylinder barrels was too high and and the solution
would be to have another customer come in and work for free to operate
the Rottler. All so the price could be kept down - for him. No one would
take that argument seriously.

Yet, there is a growing minority of Corsa members who think everything
would be just fine if we'd get rid of Mike and Harry and have volunteers
do thier work for Corsa. Think of the money that could be saved for ME
if someone else would simply volunteer to put out the Communique,
process memberships, and take care of the daily needs. Why should I pay
my own way when others can be taken advantage of?

Corsa costs what it costs. And, in my opinion, the cost should be
equally spread each year amongst the number of members. PERIOD. IF,
during the year sales of tech guides, profits from conventions etc are
realized they could be used to offset the dues or put in an investment
fund. But our thinking about this all has become backwards.

Now days it's - what heroic efforts from "other" members can be put
forth to make certain MY dues don't go up?

It's all backasswards. Corsa should be an organization made up of
Corvair lovers where each individual approaches the organization from a
positive, generous nature. And although its human nature for us not to
want to belong if we don't see a productive point we should do our best
to forget all about personal gain. If Corsa dues go up $5.00 then you
won't stand for it? Then don't waste our time and good bye.

Corsa is an organization that relies on the support of all members. Ask
not what Corsa can do for you but ask what you can do for Corsa. (yes, I
really did say that).

In my opinion it's too early to talk about cutting the Communique and
other services. Talk about something that might scare members away!
Let's raise the dues to where they really need to be. I can see in the
forseeable future where cuts to the Communique MIGHT be necessary. But
to me that's a last resort.

Whenever the dues are raised there is a very small minority that scream
very loud. Ignore them. They have no solutions and do not have Corsa's
best interests at heart. They just don't want to pay. Sorry, but that's
true.

And if you dissagree me, well then you sir - are worse - THAN NADER!

Past Western Corsa Director
