> Carefully cover the sticker with masking tape before you

And if you want a really perfect job, cover the sticker plus an area of 
about 1 mm extra all round the edges when it is being sandblasted, and then 
when it is being primed go to 1/2 mm away from the sticker, and with the top 
coat go right up to the edge, and then, if you are lacquering it, lacquer 
over the whole lot.

That way you don't get a step round the edge of the sticker where the layers 
of paint are built up.
