<VV> 67 Corvair bucket seat question

I recently picked up a used 67 Corvair bucket seat.

with it there was the "pan" or seat back, metal.

My seat has a slot in the back of the metal pan for the seat lock, the one I
picked up does not!

upon removal, the upholstery has a "slot" for the handle to go through, but
the seat has no seat lock?

Is this unusual?

I thought they all had the seat lock.

Checked out a 67 Camaro at a cruise last night, and it had the seat lock
lever too. and looked as the metal pan was the same.

 

Could be a good question for the SCG
