From: ricorvair at cox.net:

The Ebrake on my 65 monza is working strangly.

It was really soft so I adjusted it from the middle of the car about 5
turns until I felt resistance at the tire with it 3/4 engaged. But it
still does not start clicking when I pull the handle until its allmost
fully engaged.

Do I need to tighten it more. Lubricate somewhere? In the mean time I
am using chocks at the wheel until I get it sorted out.

Thanks.

Reply: I had a similar problem just before total ebrake cable failure. Apparently the strands were breaking and the remaining strands were stretching. The break occurred at the pulleys under the tunnel cover below the radio. I'd suggest inspecting the entire cable. If its starting to fail, it should be easier to install another before the old one completely breaks by using the old one to fish a pull string through the tunnel.
