I found the clips for "Mr. Holland's Opus" on YouTube this week. Great movie.

Richard Dreyfuss (?) drives an EM coupe in the movie. On his first day as a high school music teacher, he pulls into the parking lot. A crewcut VERY conservative looking Vice-Principal Stevens sees him:

Stevens (Looking at the car): Corvair, huh? You read Ralph Nader's book?
Holland: Well, I'm afraid I'm going to have to keep it till the wheels fall off
Steven: Well, you may not have to wait very long...

Mr. Holland never gets rid of the coupe, and in the 1990s his deaf son Cole restores it and calls it a classic. In fact, parts of the movie show Cole listening to the vibrations of the engine while he works on it, and you get the sense he and the car are sort of birds of a feather.
