Forget about changing a VIN plate from another vehicle and falsifying the
records just to have a VIN plate that looks nice. The chassis has the VIN
stamped into it in numerous places including hidden inside frame rails. You
will only be bringing more hurt and aggravation on yourself by attempting
this. If they are giving you a hard time about verifying the number consult
with the police and see if they would be willing to verify the alternate
hidden number and in writing. Document it and submit to the RMV.
