A late style bearing (large hub 65 to 69) may go a long time before failure
after moaning starts.

An early style should be replaced soon, as time to failure is much shorter
than the late style. They can start throwing BBs at you (well, they look
like BBs, but are the ball bearings).

The moan is a lack of grease. Mine does at startup when the car has sat
for a few days. I plan on getting the Clark's grease attachment for the
fan bearing. I've also read that it can do this for a long time before a
failure.
