<VV> Wastegate install on Corsa

 I know this wastegate well.

Mount it so the exhaust enters the bottom, and exits the side. One clever mod I saw on some Buick GNs was to bore a hole in the turbine housing scroll, weld on a flange to mount the Deltagate, and bolt it on there! Then just route the other side under the car. Or, make a line that runs into the downpipe going to the muffler.

The port next to the wastegate itself is the boost port. The other port has some interesting uses. On draw throughs, if you connect it to a port between the carb and the compressor, it'll open the wastegate a bit under part load, and improve gas mileage slightly by reducing flow resistance. A better use is to run a line from the boost side through a pressure regulator and into that port. Then you have a knob you can adjust the wastegate remotely! This is recommended only for blow through apps, since the possibility of the regulator, et al, becoming full of condensed fuel can cause problems.

There are a wide variety of springs available from Turbonetics. Generally, the total range of adjustment from the screw on top of the wastegate isn't that much, something like 2PSI tops, meaning your 9PSI spring may only be adjustable from 8-10 PSI. So, be ready to replace it.

Also, early Deltagates (not sure how old yours is) had diaphragm issues. The originals were Nomex/Viton, and would degrade from the heat. The present ones are fiberglass/silicone, and are orange, the older ones are black.

And finally, their website may be of some use.

Hope this helps!

Subject: <VV> Wastegate install on Corsa

Need a little assistance from fellow VV or FV'ers who have added a wastegate
to their turbo.

I have a 66 Corsa clone that is running a progressive Webber, water
injection, and Safeguard.

Although I am comfortable keeping detonation down with the water injection
and Safeguard but want to keep the boost below 10-12 psi.

I picked up a new, but unboxed Turbonetics Deltagate Mark 2 wastegate (9 lb
spring) and was looking for some basic install suggestions.

I don't have the instructions and am unfamiliar with this model of
wastegate.

Any suggestions as to mounting location, where to route the dump exhaust,

It has ports for boost and vacuum, suggestions?

Rick Loving
