<VV> Part needed

That is a 40 amp circuit breaker. It is not a Corvair part, at least not 
in that location. There were circuit breakers shaped like that in power 
convertible top circuits. I do not recall their amperage. If you have a 
power top, the power top  breaker would be under the dash, not in the 
engine compartment.

Someone has removed the HPT (Horrid Plastic Thingy) aka plastic terminal 
block aka many other names just search these archives for HPT, and 
installed this circuit breaker. A great idea, just not stock.

The only reason to remove it would be to return the car to stock 
appearance, or if it has failed. If the car works, then it is OK.

Why are you trying to replace it?
