<VV> Clutch Pilot Bushing Question

The method I've used is to slip the bearing over the shaft of a hot
soldering iron and let the oilite get good 'n hot. Then dunk into oil. As
the oilite cools, it sucks the oil into its pores. I did a screaming
bushing on a heater blower thirty years ago and it's still quiet. Nuff
said.

If you want to impregnate the bushing with oil how about putting it in a
pressure cooker with some moly oil and cooking it at 15#  for about 15
minutes? Seems like that might  work.

I bought the bushing from Lon. You bring up a good point I hadn't considered
- machined oilite. I didn't use the hot oil method since I figured it would
have been a wasted effort. I wish now that I had, but it didn't occur to me
that someone would machine an oilite part. I didn't mean to pull things off
track by talking about the hot oil thing but it's just so much fun watching
the bubbles!!

machined and not "cast".

This is sort of the question I originally asked concerning the oem
bushings I have. Were they perhaps machined Oilite or a similar
material?  Where did you get this bushing, specifically, and what was
the part number?

I did not ask about 'How to Oil an Oil-ite Bushing', if anyone is
wondering, but the topic sorta got off on that track.

So, did you drop your machined looking bushing into hot oil?  Did it bubble?
