Ken, my 61 GM book, and 62 supplament say Oillite is the correct bushing for
the Corvair. Its been used, by this time, for decades in all sorts of stick
shift vehicles. Oillite bushings were first developed back in the early
1900's and used in all sorts of low load applications. It was their trick
lube system before they had reliable oil pumps to lube things or sealed
bearings. Its a oilite in the end of the generators on the em's, with a oil
hole and a wick to slowly drip oil on the bearing. Oilite is used on the
starters as well.
