Before I start, let me link this AWESOME wheel/tire calculator website for all of you guys.... its amazing.

((note: I wish to leave the stainless trim on the wheel arches.))

I'm looking to finally order the set of wheels I've been wanting in the next few months.

I know that lots of folks run the 15x7 camaro wheels with 4.5 inches of backspace.

I also know that some folks run 16x8 camaro wheels with 4.75 (front) and (5.25) rear backspace with minimal bending of wheel well flanges

I know (more or less) that the tire sizes I want will work with 4.5 inches of backspace... but the problem is.......

The standard backspace for custom 5 on 4 3/4 lug pattern RWD wheels seems to be only 4 inches. This puts the wheels half an inch further out than the 15x7 camaro wheels, and 1/4 inch further out than the 16x8 camaro wheels. Based on what I've seen I dont think this will work without messing with the wheel arches.. which I'm afraid to screw up... I also want to put the widest tires possible on the rear which compounds the problem. I'm looking at about 225-50-15 (fronts) and 245-50-15 (rears) or 225-55-14 (fronts) and 245-55-14 (rears).

SO, can I get feedback from any of you guys on what 14x7 or 15x7 backspacing you have used (and with what tire sizes), how much rubbing you got etc?
