I finally got a chance to take the offending carb off and take it
apart. The gaskets had already adhered to the surfaces even though
they only had about 800 miles on them, so I will need to replace all
of them. I encountered a slight amount of debris in the bowls. For
the most part, it was very fine and very sparse. There was one
large piece in the left hand bowl. It was about 1/32 " in diameter.
The floats measured 1 1/16 closed and 1 10/16 open. There was no
stone, the rebuilder had placed a wire mesh basket that measures
13/16 x 9 1/2 16th. It was clear of debris. As far as the idle
circuit is concerned, light will pass though the idle circuit tube.
When I tried to pass a telephone wire though the tube, it went all of
the way up to the last 1/32" and no farther. When I tried to pass
the wire the opposite direction though the small opening of the tube,
again, it stops at 1/32". I tried to use needle nose pliers to force
the wire though the tube by holding the wire at about 1/32" to the
end, and "drill" (by turning the venturi cluster while holding onto
the wire with the pliers) to no avail.

Now what?
