<VV> 4 spd tranny swap

It has been a long time for me, too. Look in Clark's catalog where they show
the different main/input shaft lengths and styles (60 is different I think).
You need the correct shaft for your transmission. The differential to main
or input shaft seal is different, too, I think - but that may be between the
earlier smaller id shafts and the LM shafts so look in the parts book or
catalogs to see which you need. The 3 and 4 spd trans take a different front
(cross) mount and require a spacer betweeen the mount and trans case. I
think this is different between the 3 an 4 spd cases-not sure. The FC has a
different front 4spd mount than the 3spd mount. Finally, I think the Corvair
Basics book addresses it, but if not, The Bob Helt follow-on book does, and
probabaly the tech guide.

The shifter is good for all early years I think. FC is another ball of wax.
Early shifter rods and shifter in driver compartment is different depending
on the gas tank you have. 63 1/2 and later uses the thru the gas tank
shifter and shift rod.

Kind of hazy but this info should get you looking at the right spots.

Good Luck
