Y'all need one of them new fangled quarter wave antennas. Which fer FM, if y'all wanted to call 98 mega HURTS the middle, would be, as them boys already said, 30 inches.

Brian,

As I recall, there is a specific length (maybe 38 inches?) for an FM antenna
and an "official" FM antenna would be made to that length and
non-collapsible. It has something to do with matching the length of the FM
signal wave. Someone into radios can probably explain that.

You can get satisfactory FM reception by using an "AM" collapsible antenna
and adjusting it to the FM length. Now, if you are mounting in the rear,
you might be putting a "rake" to it? I'm not sure how that affects the
length requirement. Some "fine tuning" might be required.

Later, JR

I’m searching for a replacement rear antenna for my 65 CORSA. The major
East Coast Corvair parts vendor lists one but says “AM only”. I have an
aftermarket AM/FM radio in the car. Will this antenna do a good job of
receiving FM signals? Is there an alternative? Anybody bought one from an20
outside supplier that fits the factory mounting hole?
