I'm not sure I understand the question.
Are you not wanting to remove the rod from the crank? Obviously it has to be
removed from the broken piston.
The pin is a press fit in the piston; the rod floats on the pin.
The rod and the piston have to be removed from the engine as an assy and the
new piston pressed on the pin/rod.
