My GPS also has a female voice, and she doesn't let me ignore her  
directions.  When I ask if we can take a different route, she says  
"let me look at the map." I famously questioned her once and was told  
"I told you to turn right, stop arguing with your navigator."

We won the rally :-)

Seriously, the speed alarm might get me to buy one of these newfangled  
electronic devices you speak of.  Up until now, the last thing I  
wanted in a car was *another* female voice telling me where to turn.   
OTOH, #3 son is pretty good at informing me when I'm exceeding the  
posted speed limit "Dad, you know the speed limit here is 55, right?"
