<VV> Paul O'Shea

All:  If I remember correctly, the late Paul O'Shea was no longer with EMPI
at the time of the Corvair trials.  Story I remember was that he told Ed
Cole to get him a job at GM or he would be an expert witness against the
Corvair.  Cole said no.  O'Shea made a name for himself in the 50's driving
a lightweight M-B 300SL in So. Cal.  He was also the EMPI person behind the
Genie-Corvair, but only raced it one time.  He was well past his prime, and
recognized the car was way faster than he was at that point.  EMPI sold the
car to Friendly Chevrolet and Jerry Titus from Sports Car Graphic, got the
seat...and the heart ach of developing the car.

I interviewed O'Shea at a Road America vintage race back in the late 80's.
M-B was the features manque, and John Fitch introduced us.  I confess I did
know what to ask him then.  He was in a wheel chair, having recently lost a
leg to the dubieties which eventually killed him.

Also it might be interesting to know that Paul O' Shea, the driver that Mr.
 Harney used was also connected with EMPI, the company who sold the "Camber
 Compensator" and sponsored the EMPI Monza Owners Club. Maybe a little
conflict  of interest?
