Hi James,
Wow, you do have a problem. If you shift into reverse and the car "jerks  
you back in the seat." The only thing that can cause that is by having the  
transmission drop into a FORWARD GEAR and not reverse. If it went into  
reverse, it would have to jerk you forward away from the seat. And of course you  
have the idle speed way too high also!
 
Try dropping the idle speed down to 500-600 rpm and see how it shifts and  
whether it's a forward gear or reverse.
