I also noticed that on a dual exhaust Corvair, that if one side is obviously colder than the other, one carb is not drawing much fuel at idle.

Arend:  thank you.  I appreciate your advice.  I'll check the carb.  It's amazing how well the Corvair engine is balanced, even when things aren't perfect, the motor runs so nice and smooth...Billl
