My dad had one of those Econoline vans back in 1964 -- I second the 
motion about the column shift linkage!!  I was coming home from a date 
one night (Jan 20, 1965 - a date I will always remember) and a guy ran a 
red light and hit me on the passenger door and peeled the whole front 
end off the van...  it was held on with a lot of spot welds which were 
quite visible after it got torn off...   Insurance totaled the van 
(wonder why?)  and he bought a Chevy Van to replace it...  I enjoyed 
dating in that Econoline, though... the things you could do on the motor 
box.... but that's another story...
