All: I have been stunned at the lack of response among Fitch Sprint owners
about the chance to meet John Fitch. He is 93, and just how many more
chances do you folks think you will have?

Anyhow, I did what I promised at the vintage race at Road America last
weekend. It got easy when I meet one of the event co-chairman's at
registration when getting my arm band. They are interested in having Fitch
Sprint owners there, and will work with us if there is interest. I didn't
tell them about the under whelming response.

John will be at the track on Friday and in Elkhart Lake Saturday when they
will be reenacting the early races in and around the town. Friday will
require a general admission ticket, while Saturday should be free as
everything involving John will be in town. John will also be a guest at the
Friday night Banquet at the Osthoff Resort in town. I assume you will have
to get a ticket from the VSCDA to attend. John will not be at the event on
Sunday.

There at lots of motels in the area. Consult your favorite web site.

You can e-mail the event organizers at VSCDA at sbcglobal.net and visit them at
www.vscda.org

The English marque Elva will also featured.

Historically Yours,

Subject: John Fitch at Road America

The mid-west based Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association (VSCDA) has
announced that John Fitch will be an honored guest at their fall event at
Road America Sept 10-12. John won major races there in 1951 and 1952. This
event is part of Road America's 60th Anniversary celebration.

Mike Treptow (Milwaukee area) and I (central Illinois) think it would be
appropriate for Fitch Sprints owners to be present. Beginning late next
week we will be making contacts with the staff's of Road America and the
VSCDA to determine if or how Fitch Sprint owners and enthusiasts can be
incorporated into the event.

We have made the event known to the combined CORSA and CPF BoDs with the
idea of maybe getting CPF's recently restored Fitch Sprint at the event.
This car was John's original LM demonstrator and was at CORSA Convention two
weeks ago.

If you are a Fitch owner or enthusiasts, please contact both Mike
[mb.treptow at sbcglobal.net] and myself [ricebugg at mtco.com] so we can
determine interest as we contact the event organizers next week. We will
put together a e-mail list to keep you informed.

Please remember it is our understanding Rd America and the VSCDA have their
schedule pretty well firmed up. Nothing may come of this. But it is a
question worth asking them.

Historically Yours,
                        James Rice
