<VV> Head Stud hole repair question - helicoils

The threads are never considered a seal.  Any sealing is from a gasket or 
sealant so you can't blame a thread insert.  If it previously was a blind 
hole and was drilled through in the process of installing the insert, then 
you may need to use sealant around the bolt head.
