Turn signal switch is the only culprit here.

You confirmed good ground by the fact the turn signal works, as long as
the intensity of the left and right rear turn signal lamps were the
same. The right rear turn signal and brake lamp uses the same:
1. Wire from the turn signal switch to the socket.
2. Same contact in the socket to the bulb.
3. Same filament in the bulb.
4. Same ground path from the bulb shell to actual body ground.

You confirmed the brake lamp switch works by the left brake lamp
working. The left and right brake lamps use the same:
1. Fuse.
2. Wire from fuse to brake lamp switch.
3. Contact in brake lamp switch.
4. Wire from brake lamp switch to turn signal switch.

Only part not confirmed working from above testing is the turn signal
switch.

Clean/adjust or replace turn signal switch. It is not easy to clean the
switch, but it can be done. I've done many.

Reply typed with only one hand, had left bicep reattached to bone on
Monday. Yes, the culprit was a Corvair engine!
