<VV> Restoration, was: Part Aquired

That's why it's nice to start with a nice, rust-free (or low rust) southern
or southwestern car (though they're not the only places that have little
rust problems.) The first resto I did involved a search for an appropriate
body shell, and it took 15 years of searching, and a stroke of pure luck,
to find a nearly rust-free body (from the desert out past Bakersfield). Had
it shipped back to Ohio for less than $1000, including purchase price. I
couldn't have bought reworked bodywork that good for triple the price! That
was back around 1990.

My current project car spent practically its entire road life in Aridzona.
However, that didn't keep it from developing some cowl and windshield frame
rust. But it's nothing us rustbelt guys can't easily fix. The rest of the
car is fantastic, though.

Unfortunately, I'm like Hank. Champaign taste on a beer budget..... LOL

BTW, those who have never worked on rusty cars are spoiled rotten. I think
everyone should have the experience of changing a rusted-in crossmember, or
have a seat fall thru rotted floorboards. (G) THEN you can go back and have
a better appreciation of your rust-free cars.
